Historically, our investments have spanned a diverse group of sectors, including residential and commercial real estate, hotel properties, paper and packaging, sugar refining and distribution, oil and gas, waste management, financial services, and agricultural equipment.

Belkin Inc

Belkin Inc was Canada’s leading paperboard consumer packaging manufacturer and was an early champion for the use of recycled fiber. In 1987 it was sold to Paperboard Industries.

Canadian Hotel Income Properties

The Canadian Hotel Income Properties Real Estate Investment Trust was a hotel real estate investment trust focused on mid-market and upscale hotels. Belkorp held controlling interest at the board level and owned approximately 30% of the trust. CHIP REIT was sold in August 2007.

Mohawk Oil Canada

Mohawk Oil Canada Ltd was the market leader in introducing ethanol blended gasoline in Western Canada. The company was a distributor of oil and gas products through a chain of retail service stations and an oil re-cycling facility in Vancouver. Belkorp acquired an initial holding in Mohawk Oil in 1994 and sold the retail holdings to Husky Energy in 1998 and the oil re-cycling division to Newalta Corporation in 2002.

Newstech Recycling

Newstech Recycling developed, built, and operated British Columbia’s largest newspaper and magazine recycling plant in Coquitlam in 1990. The business was sold to Catalyst Paper Company in 2003.

Belkin Paper Stock Inc was a broker of newsprint, cardboard, and other paper products. The company facilitated the sale of recycled paper products collected by municipalities and companies to recycling mills.

Mohawk Lubricants Ltd

Mohawk Lubricants Ltd was British Columbia’s only used oil recycling refinery, located in North Vancouver.
